usually i use acetic acid 1% to dissolve chitosan in different concentrations and it works good, but when i try to add the dissolved chitosan into MRS broth the less concentration of chitosan the more difficult to dissolve, however i understand that the solubility problem usually comes from higher concentration of solute not lower one.
i need to prepare low concentration of chitosan (100 ppm) dissolved in MRS broth.
does anyone has an explanation for that ?
You try to increase the acetic acid concentraction gradully

You can try to CO2 gas (approximatelly 1 atm pressure) bubble in the broth as the former cases . CO2 molecule reacts with H2O molecule forming H2CO3. Carbonic acid solution has the ability to dissolve chitosan like lactic acid and acetic acid.
thank you for all your answers, i have tried different concentrations of acetic acid but still not dissolved
is it normal that 100 ppm of chitosan would not be dissolving, however higher concentration like 500 ppm can completely be dissolved with the same condition?
