Raman spectroscopy is a good tool to investigate RGO. D band ,G band and their ratio gives information about the remnant graphitic sites. Incresed ID/IG ratio is expected as we reduce GO to RGO. FTIR is another tool which can be helpful, as the intensity of various functional groups present changes with reduction process.
Beside above measurments, you can determine the extent of reduction by measuring C/O ratio of rGO using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS) analysis .EDS analysis shows elemental mapping in material. As C/O increases as extent of reduction increases. Also, elemental mapping can be examined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) .
A smple and rutinary way to check the extent of reduction: UV-vis spectroscopy. Graphene Oxide usually shows a peak centered at 231nm with a shoulder at ~300nm, and after the reduction step shows only one peak at 260-270 nm (the displacement at 267-268 nm shows a good reduction step).
