As you may know, three important species known as cereal cyst nematodes, Hetreodera filipjevi, H. avenae and H. latipons have beenreported from cereal-growing systems. The first two species are almost similar morphologically or based on morphometrics, while the third one is quite different in terms of morphology of cyst cone-top and second stage juvenile. For better identification, you need to use both morphological as well as molecular techniques. To start, you need to prepare permanent slides of second stage juveniles from cysts and also cone-top of cysts. You may have different geographical populations of CCN and so have to examine at least 10-20 cysts each.
