1_The apparent density of the different composite using a polymeric matrix can be determined using the liquid displacement method based on the Archimedes principle. By this method, the volume of the sample is estimated by the mass of the volume that is displaced when the sample is submerged in a liquid. Thus, the natural fiber composite samples are weight in a balance with a precision nearest to 0.0001g were it is added distillate water. Special care should be taken to avoid the presence of air bubbles.
2_The density of the natural fiber composite materials using a polymeric matrix can be determined according to the standard ASTM D 792, using an analytical balance equipped with a stationary support for the immersion vessel. In this method it is used a solvent such as Water or Propanol as immersion liquid depending on the density of the composite.
