S parameters are not defined when a plane wave excitation is used. You may think of exciting your system with an antenna placed far away, so that it's got a port attached to it. The price to pay is that your simulation volume might be too large.
Another tricky solution would be monitor the incident and reflected waves in a probe (which will give an idea of the return loss, related to the S parameter).
