There is a paper by Andersen (1979, in a Danish journal) on the distinctions between cultivated Poaceae which is still a classic.and forms the basis of most of the systems used. As for proxies - well, where to begin? Depends on where you are geographically and what types of hyman activity you expect...

Palynological indicators for human activities generally include 2 categories: 1st, cultivated, e.g., grapes, walnuts and cereals; 2nd, secondary indicators, which mainly include weeds such as Plantago lanceolata and Urtica sp. Sometimes spiny taxa from Asteraceae family can be anthropogenic indicators as well. Maybe it is better for you have an idea about the vegetation and archaeological studies in your working region first. Finding of macrofossil remains will facilitate your work.

thanks for your replay, I am interesting about the nature profile in Changjiang River delta now, so it is very hard to found the relation about human and the palynology. Expecially, for two parts, the firstly, how to find the species of pollen as a proxy of human actively. The secondly, how to identify that the pollen is local resource. Because you know as huge river, the Changjiang rever always take so much materials to the river mouth. So It is very important for identify that is come form the plain or from the mid-up stream.
