I am actually looking some range of acceleration which can tell this acceleration range is aggressive normal or calm. Driving cycle study only tells about acceleration and deceleration, cruise and idling>>
It is difficult to answer. I do not consider myself an aggressive driver, but I usually accelerate when the traffic light opens to flee the car groups. But I do not accelerate too much, just enough.
What do you want with this mathematical model? Maybe another parameter can provide the information you need.
Dear Dr, I agree with Dr Beluco that this is difficult to answer. I am also accelerating when the traffic light opens especially when I want to go home as always my cute kids wait me in front of the door. But I am not aggressive driver and calm enough. TQ
Behaviour can be defined in relation to the charcteristics of the context and the particular actions that are expected in that context in order to achieve a desirable outcome. This outcome would be safety of people on the road, safety of the driver and a preservation of both the road and the cars that operate on that road. For example, if the roads are designed according to standards to which the vehicles have been designed to function properly and safely and according to a specific regulations, then the actions of the driver that would determine his behaviour must adhere to the standards of safety and driving regulations inherent to the vehicle and the roads in which he / she drives. Therefore, we can define the behaviour of a driver as follows:
"A driver behaviour is the set of actions he / she performs to ensure both the safety of people and compliance to the driving regulations"
Obviously, safety and compliance imply speed limits being respected. Also, there are assumptions which underpin this definition.
In fact, many factors the driver cannot control when driving, the roadway and the fast speed. Drivers should not be aggressive and should not exceed the speed limits. In addition, it would be better for them to wear safety belts so as to avoid risks.
I guess, as said by mohamed benmerikhi if the speed of the vehicle is with in allowable limit on the road, drivers behavior will be calm but as soon as drivers overshoots the allowable speed limit he/she will be aggressive..
There are numerous factors for drivers' aggressiveness. Among them, I recommend to look at reaction time, minimum gap, and time headway in following condition.
If you have surveys available in a road section, can obtain the distributions of the speeds of all vehicles. If you have surveys available at a traffic light, can obtain the distributions of the acceleration of all vehicles.
A system to get a rough differentiation of values is to divide the distributions with three different percentiles (slow, normal and aggressive drivers for example 33, 66, 100). In this case the problem will be a proper calibration with the real world ...
For emissions, when you are known «diagrams of motion» (space, time, speed and acceleration) and type of vehicles you can proceed with software like CALINE (very old!)
In 1995 I conducted a similar study but the text is in Italian ...
