I use Ansys workbench in order to simulate a steel structure model based on a lab model that I tested in the Experimental Mechanical Laboratory.
in Ansys, there is the Rayleigh damping method to define damping. in this method, alpha (mass coefficient) and beta (stiffness coefficient) are damping coefficients (C=aM+bK). For full transient analysis, we need to assign these values. these values are calculated by dynamics formulation. Moreover, I try to add damping from material properties (engineering data). but, this does not affect the responses. I think maybe there is another method to define the damping ratio for the material.
Does anyone know how to define the damping ratio for full dynamic (transient) in Ansys workbench?
