Are you sure that calculator and design spec do not have redundancy?! I mean that one parameter is calculated by both. Another problem maybe sequence of these blocks.

As I said earlier, there are 36 blocks in the simulation, and I am using calculator for couple of blocks and design spec for other. I am not using same block. Will this cause the error i am getting? 

Sometimes, the calculated and new specified variables create error in convergence and are not compatible, especially when there is tear or recycle stream.

1- Go to convergence (in data browser), and try different default methods

2- Try different tear streams

3- Change your solving method from sequential to equation oriented

I tried what you have told, but once that error starts coming any changes made in the simulations, be it input data or property methods, the simulations doesn't run . It just shows the error and doesn't go any further.

Dear Chinta, do you mean that you have an error for property method?So, you have reached to an answer in which the selected property method can not calculate properties within. I suppose that your solving method is not correct, or there is no convergence between the specified upper and lower bounds of design spec block.

resetting without actually paying attention to the error does not work, you may try checking the error in control panel and see where this is coming from either design spec or calculator blocks but the control panel is the first port of call it will show you where you need to pay attention to. I guess you are trying to simulate a process containing distillation column(s) and so obvious that it has condenser. Most of time common mistake is we select wrong connection for total or partial condenser (connecting the streams depends on the vapor fraction of liquid distillate). During design spec it gives problem in getting the result. Kindly check if it is the case.

Maryam Akbari Chinta Sankar Rao how did you overcome the error? I found this shut down many times in a simulation that was working before, but suddenlly doesn't run anymore. Don't know what to do.

When you use a recycle stream to a block you need to reduce the mass/mole amount from the original value. i.e. if you already entered 100 kmol/hr of H2 to the RGibbs reactor and run the simulation before. Then you may need to recycle 30 kmol/hr of H2 from another stream to the RGibbs reactor. You should reduce the original H2 from 100 to 70 kmol/hr to balance the mole of RGibss reactor. Hope you would get what I mean :)

Errors while processing input specifications, this type of error using appear when you have used any recycle stream, or any recycle stream block. If you will use Hysys, this could be easy in hysys but as far as you are using Aspen Plus, this is a tricky job. Mohammad Ramezani has already mentioned the how to overcome this issue. One more thing you can do is, try to run your simulation step by step by adding some blocks and then add more blocks later. This way you can get the exact location of the error.
