It depends on what mapping technology you are using. But if it is AJAX-PHP based, you could put on your markers a TAG with an onClick property, to execute something like:
information = function(_coords){
return $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: 'info.php?c='+_coords, async: false }).responseText;
};
and create a info.php to treat your query.
An example is google maps, where you should use something like:
google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', (function(marker, i) {
return function() {
position: new google.maps.LatLng(locations[i][1], locations[i][2]), map: map
infowindow.setContent(locations[i][0]+ " click here.");
infowindow.open(map, marker);
}
})(marker, i));

An Info widow for markers on the map allows interractivity such as search items and display results within the pop up window.
Hi Joshua, we can do it easily. i can only suggest you the way we can do it, bcz i dont know PHP ...
Say we have opened a map window with few markers on it. markers will be like small balloons like icons. when we click, a small tool tip will open with some info.
Normally if we are working with existing mapping javascripts and all, they will be providing their own marker tool tips shapes and desgins. These are very limited.
But we can create our own tool tip pages for markers with good designs.
so first thing we have to know where exactly we are writing tool tip marker code. (OSM maps related js files will be different from google js.)
Here we have to write a new code as per our needs and replace that tool tip code.
Means here when we click on map marker , it should open our new php page as a pop up window. once this opens user can do what ever he wants then results can be shown on same php page or we can give a link like view results. (but it will open another popup from tool tip popup. so user may feel uncomfortable).
so only thing is we have to know where the marker tool tip code has written.
i can help you completely if it is in javascript and html. i never worked on PHP.

We used html canvas output from php.
No library required.
then Javascript can convert live canvas to png.
