I am trying to represent welds by inclined shell element for the double-sided lap joint of steel plate. When I tried to use tie between the cover plate and inclined shell element as well as the base plate and the inclined shell element, it always shows an error with the message that no. of nodes are used more than once as a slave node in *TIE keyword. I think this is the error due to the common master surface (base plate) for both salve surfaces ( upper and lower inclined shell elements). I also tried to change the master surface and slave surface of the lower side but the behaviour of the upper and lower inclined shell, as well as cover plate, is different.

I would appreciate it if anyone helps me with this regard.

Can you please write to me which interaction and constraint property are appropriate in this condition?

Thank you very much in advance.
