Rodi presented a simplified Reynolds Stresses Model in 1982 to calculate secondary currents in open channel flows. He introduced a surface-proximity function f to account for the wall-reflection effect. In the f expression, he used a definition "average distance". He briefly explained that the average distance is determined by integrating over the distance,s,of the point considered from a point on the surrounding surface. But how to locate the point on the surface in a favourable way and how is theta in the formula defined?
