Hi, I want to compare different means of a score in SPSS. I want to know the difference between the score in sex and in nationality (French and Dutch).
So I want to know the means of French women, French men, Dutch women en Dutch men. And if they differ significantly? How do I do this? Which are my dependent variable and fixed variables?

You can compare the difference in means using ANOVAs (analysis of variance). From your explanation, sex and nationality will be your fixed factors. As for your dependent variable, what exactly did you measure? Wellbeing? Stereotypes? etc. Whatever it is, that would be your dependent variable. If you have more than one dependent variable, then conduct a MANOVA (multivariate analysis of variance).
I agree with Faith's answer. One note, however. I would not suggest a manova simply because you have more than one dependent variable. Id use a manova if those dependent variables covary with one another and there is a theoretical reason to join them as a composite. Also, if you use manova and it is significant, be ready to follow it up with a discriminant analysis. Cheers
Here is the syntax for simple effects between your conditions within each IV at each level of the other IV. Replace the words DV and IV1 and IV2 with your variable labels for your DV and IV1 and IV2. It sounds like one of your IVs is something like "Sex" and the other is something like "Country".

So basically, you can just go to recode variable, then find sex and recode it. You can for example give women 1 and men -1. Yo can do the same thing for nationality. Then run ANOVA and sex will be your independent variable (the fixed variable) and the thing you are interested will be your dependent variable. You can do the same thing for nationality. If you want to check more than one dv then run MANOVA instead of ANOVA. With this approach you can check whether your dependent variables (the things you want to check for mean difference) will differ based on you IVs (gender/nationality)
