I want to collect different peaks from HPLC, However I don't know how much sample should I load into the injector
When to collect the fraction when it first appear as a peak and how much of it to collect in order to have separate fractions
Plus for how long should I keep collecting?
It depends on your flowrate, column length... In short this piece of equipment is called a 'fraction collector'.
Bruce Neagle! Thank you I read about Fraction Collector. But I don't want to get that and just collect the samples manually for a quick experiment. Do you have any idea of how exactly to collect the fraction that is giving the peak and when to collect it as soon as it gives the peak?
It's possible! Measure the volume coming from the tubing exiting the detector. Divide by your flow rate and this should be the number of minutes (convert to seconds).
Use a stopwatch in your experiment and collect the fraction exiting the detector peak after so many seconds.
