How can I calculate the Heavy Metal Pollution Index( HPI), Metal Evaluation Index( HEI), Metal Enrichment Index( MEI) and Contamination Index( Cd). My present study was conducted to assess heavy metal pollution of surface water.18 surface water samples were collected during the summer, pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons and the concentrations of metals Fe, Cu, Mn, Cr, Zn, Cd, Pb and Ni was analyzed. I have read many research papers, but i have not understood the calculation part of HEI, MEI and Cd. Could anyone please give an example and a formula for this calculation part and also give an example, because I am not a mathematical background.
