Hi, I am studying about the fMRI processing.

I am trying to figure out how to calculate the "cross-correlation coefficient" in fMRI processing, but the definition of "cross-correlation coefficient" is confusing to me.

Google did not teach me the "cross-correlation coefficient", so I searched "cross-correlation". According to google, cross-correlation is a FUNCTION of lag, showing the similarity between 2 data. But this does not look like cross-correlation "coefficient" because coefficient is supposed to be a representative value, right?

What I got confused about the definition of 'cross-correlation coefficient' is in the paper, Bandettini, MRI, 1991. I found many papers citing this. This paper refers "cross-correlation image" just like to "an image that has Pearson's correlation coefficient pixel by pixel, multiplied by a rate of some magnitudes of vectors.". The two correlation terms sound similar but seem to have some differences making themselves get the different names.

Please give me a hint where I can clarify about the cross-correlation coefficient fMRI processing, or any papers helpful.

Thank you, in advance, for any helps :)
