I'm hoping someone can help me. In my study I am looking to investigate three dimensions of parenting: warmth, behavioural control and psychological control. I am currently considering the PARQ/control to measure warmth and behavioural control; however, I need a measure of psychological control or an alternative measure that includes all three dimensions.
I am doing an intergenerational study, measuring (i) adults' perceptions of the parenting they received during childhood and (ii) their perceptions of their current parenting practices with their own children. Can anyone recommend a questionnaire(s) that can be used for both?

Hi,
I have used the Parental Bonding Instrument to measure recollections from one's childhood and the PARQ for current relationships with parents. I am not sure how you can find a measure measuring both (i) and (ii) in your question since these are basically two different sets of variables. Why not opting for different measures instead?

Many thanks for your reply. I might not have been absolutely clear so apologies for that. I believe that there are three versions of the PARQ, one for adults' perceptions of the parenting they received during their childhood, one for adults' perceptions of the parenting they currently employ with their children and one for a child's perceptions of the parenting they currently receive. I would be planning on using the first two in my study; however, the PARQ does not account for psychological control, which is the specific tool I am looking for in addition.
I am looking to measure adults' perceptions of the parenting received and their current parenting practices, as per the PARQ in my proposed study. The dimensions of parenting I'd like to measure are warmth, behavioural control and psychological control and I'd ideally like to maintain consistency with the use of tools across both generations.
