As I know, critical thinking is an essential feature that should be in scientist.
Can you tell me how this skill can be developed? or how do you gain it from your long research path ( situations from real life?)
It's an open discussion.
Read research papers and then use a literature matrix to organise information and finally determine which papers are reliable, any contradictions, any gaps in knowledge, potential trajectory of research and so on.
I will say it comes with experience and multidiciplinary research activities. Also, there are few good books on this. You can look at the book called "Six Thinking Hats" by Bono.
