If a GPS tracking device is placed on animal, I assume it will more or less affect the movement of the individual. So, is there a way the animal can get rid of the device by itself or everytime you place a device you will need to remove it for the animal later.

This is an odd question, especially for this forum. Is this a ruse? Are you a convicted felon who is curious about how to remove your GPS ankle bracelet?
The goal of any monitoring system is to be unintrusive. Otherwise, you create a Hawthorne Effect that will provide false data and a not useful. Of course, the monitoring of animals has the goal of protecting and enhancing the survivability of the species. It's hard to make this practice controversial.
Many collars can ve fittef with a so called “drop-off” mechanism by which the collar can be remotely triggered to drop off or means of a timer or simple wesr.
