how bulblet induction occurred in amaryllis?

during in vitro culture of amaryllis, when i used inner twin scales of bulb, the number of produced bulblet increased but its size decreased. on the other hand, application of outer twin scales resulted in fewer but larger bulblets. what is the reason ?
