Authenticity is a quality that can’t be precisely measured. You can’t report on your company’s authenticity the way you can quarterly sales, gross revenues, or even social media followers. Yet authenticity is vitally important to how well received you are by your target audience, and how much trust they hold for your brand in general. So how can you learn to make your brand as authentic as possible, when there are no objective measurements for such a quality?

There are many definitions of “authenticity” you can work with, but for our purposes, let’s view it as a genuineness and humanness that makes your brand more trustworthy. That is to say—if your posts seem robotic, formulaic, contrived, sales-heavy, or manipulative, they are not authentic. If they are sincere, emotional, personal, approachable, and believable, they are authentic.

With that loose definition established, let’s look at some strategies you can use to increase your brand’s own authenticity:

I think it is difficult. So I didn't answer anoym.  The tremendous developments in technology exploite by terrorists and bad guys.

The power in authenticity, whether in your brand or person, is that it leaves no questions unanswered. People know where you stand, what you’re made of and what is important to you. Authenticity helps you define how they see you, without risking they’ll be confused.

As I read the question, I was struck with a hypothetical image of Albert Einstein or Darwin and what they might have posted if they had opportunity. If a post is true or not requires great human perception and discernment. I view our social question of finding the truth as similar to politicians' promises, food label affirmations, and similar social and research data. I share the discomfort at trying to determine who tells the truth and who doesn't. I am reminded of a quote from Christian history where Pilate asks Jesus Christ, "What is truth" (John 18.38). 

First, those who have the content knowledge of the issues raised are better informed to consume messages on Social Media than novices.

I thank my colleagues on RG for their purposeful remarks and replies to my question. As @Subhas C. Kundu has remarked that  the authenticity has power and it has its own values. In Sanskrit, there is shloka meaning that only truth stands, which is standing that has power of truth to stand. I agree with him and appreciate his obligations.

@Krishnan Umachandran explains that we should be capable to differentiate genuine and ingenuine; good and bad.

I appreciate the answers. It becomes clear that genuine sources and genuine people should be trusted on social media. However I think that impact of social media is increasing day-by-day and people accumulate at this virtual place to communicate and express their views and opinions. Sometimes rumors and  messages without facts appear true to some people. If highly spread messages would be verified by unbiased agencies of government/social media, these messages could be more productive. And role of social media would be increased in the society. That is my perception.

 In a my perfect world, everyone would tell the truth, organizations would assume a moral obligation to monitor for the authentic and believable to the good of mankind. One difficult task we face is to see the good in the people we cannot and dare not trust.
