Editions like AIP or IEEE typically ask the corresponding author for a copyright transfer before publishing any scientific paper with his name on it. I.e. they own afterwards the copyright… Am I thus violating their copyright by putting the content of these publications openly onto my ResearchGate account? In which other way is such sensitive material still protected? What kind of sanctions do I have to expect - at any moment - from IEEE, Elsevier, or AIP?
