As I am working on various chemical as well as biological synthesized molecules (Bacterial enzymes, plant or fern based compounds). So I want to know the exact receptor on fungus or bacteria which binds to these molecules and initiate the antimicrobial activity.
Also Is these molecules showed the same effect as azoles or amphotericin B which inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol (the main fungal sterol) ?

According to me, mode of action will vary for the each molecule, according to their chemical nature. some molecules have hydrophobic nature and some are hydrophilic. hydrophobic molecules may interact by hydrophobic interaction with the target microbial strain. while hydrophilic molecule will interact with some ionic bonds with protein or lipid moieties present in the cell wall or membrane .
