How accurate is it to use the analysis of the overlap of confidence intervals for 95% instead of a hypothesis test (for example, a Student's t test) in the comparisons of mean values of distinct groups (whether dependent or independent)?

I ask, because I like to put in the tables CI 95%, and once inserted, I think if it is necessary to present also the p values or some other symbol (* #) identifying whether it is significant or not.
