Fenton reagent is the 1:1 mixture of Fe(II) and H2O2. An addition of Fenton reagent results in unwanted contamination of drinking water by Fe. What are the reasons to generate hydroxyl radicals in drinking water? Cl2 or O3 work well for disinfection.

High concentration of Cl2 also show some corrective effect on water system equipments and not much effective like peroxide.
