I would like to know how abaqus calculates the spacing between elements when we chose the option SeedEdge-->Biased (by size).
I read in Abaqus documentation that the bias ratio is the ratio of the largest size element to the smallest one. Using these parameters (ratio, max and min length) how Abaqus calculate the elements sizes

The bias ratio is the ratio of the largest element to the smallest element along an edge.
For example, the bias value for the seeded edge is five; the largest element on the edge will be five times larger than the smallest element on the edge.
I am not sure, but logically, the formula can be:
L(i)=L(i-1)+(BiasRatio/No.OfElementsAlongTheEdge)
The element sizes form a geometric progression with the first term a and common ratio q, which is found from the equation a*(qn-1)/(q-1)=L, where n is the integer number (number of elements) that gives the minimum positive value to the expression a*qn-1-b. Here a – minimum size (in the dialog box), b – maximum size (in the dialog box), L – edge length.
