I am carrying out a research on the The Experiences of Older socioeconomically deprived Port Harcourt residents seeking formal and informal support. I have stated that my research will consider homogeneous participants (age/socioeconomic status) to better understand the participants lived experiences as a whole. (Using IPA methodology). But I also intend to achieve diversity in my sample considering gender and level of education. Can my sample be homogeneous and heterogenous?
I have previously stated this but my supervisor asked this question [ You also state that your sample is homogeneous but then aim to achieve diversity in your sample for some characteristics (e.g. gender, level of education) - consider removing the reference to a homogeneous sample OR specify more precisely which characteristics you are aiming to keep homogenous (e.g. age/socio-economic status), which you will not keep homogeneous, and why.]
I am a bit confused.
