Dear Friends,
I have confusion regarding HKT transporter activity for Na+/K+ ions in rice plant under salinity.
As in most of the literature it is mentioned that mainly OsHKT1 member exclude the Na+ ion from xylem tissue to phloem via xylem parenchyma cells, back to the root, behind the compensation of Na+ ion is there any other ion get exchange to maintain the ionic gradient.
For example antiporters (SOS/NHX) function based upon H+ gradient generated by H+ATPase/Vacuolar ATPase, by utilizing generated H+ gradient these antiporters eflux Na+ ion (outside of cell by SOS/sequester Na+ ion inside vacuolesby NHX) that plays the role to maintain the cationic gradient in cellular system.
Is there any thing reported behind HKT gene mechanism for exchanging the ionic homeostasis in plant system.
Kindly help me regarding this query.
