I'm wondering if, in the literature, there are examples of mice that were fed high fat diet, but did not develop hyperglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia? I tried to look for it on PubMed, but it's an information usually buried in articles and difficult to extract from a simple search.
The results will depend on several factors:
1. Composition of diet: how high is the high fat diet; is it high fat and high carbohydrate (often used to mimic insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome)?
2. Duration of high fat diet feeding
3. Strain of mice used in the experiment

Duration of high fat diet feeding is very important to develop hyperglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia. When the mice will have got an individual overweight/ obesity, then you can gradually observe the metabolic disorders.

To induce of experimental hyperglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia after High fat diet we need to pay attention for:
1) Duration of high fat diet feeding to develop hyperglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia.
2) When the mice will have got a boundary for individual overweight/ obesity, then we can gradually observe the metabolic disorders.
3) Hyperglycemia and/or hyperinsulinemia appear not immediately after weight gained. You need to wait an exhaustion of the body reserves... )) for instance, for Insulin / Insulin-like receptors.
