Dear Shruti, Thanks for your nice remark, indeed now-a-days it is very hard to decide which conference to participate. Typically I receive 5-6 emails everyday to give talks in conferences but all of them are expansive. I do organize conferences too but try to keep as moderate as possible so that large number of participants are there from all over the world.
Actually the main idea behind the conferences was to let each-other know about the scientific developments but I can see now the 'Penetration of Business Economics' slowly and slowly in scientific conferences too.............
Conference expenses are becoming abusively high. I wonder why they are held in expensive hotels. Most universities have enough facilities to accommodate these events. If the conferences are held in cities that have diverse types of accommodations, conference organizers could just share a list of nearby hotels, etc. If university space is used, there is no need to pay for equipment, technicians, rooms of amphitheaters. If held outside class seasons, space will be available for everything. I find it is a good idea to welcome international colleagues at our space of research and teaching. IIt is more "real". t would be a much more interesting activity. That used to be the way we had conferences at my university, until the hotel conference became a standard. Besides, I just hate to pay huge amounts of money just to park my car at a hotel when I am part of the local crew. I miss the good old days when we could walk our visitors across our beautiful university campus. We had more fun than in a hotel. At the campus all was warmer, more cheerful, less stiff, less pompous!
