The most important thing to look for at the begining is review or state of the art research papers, this can help you to have a global idea on the different analytic techniques used in big data: to do so you can simply start with the keywords "big data analytics" then choose specifically review papers! 

it will help you tremendously in order to have a wide idea about all present techniques. By then you can decide on which one you will base your study on.
