i want to undertake a research using GIS & Remote sensing technologies to estimate the rate of carbon loss in the atmosphere due to deforestation so as to determine the rate of temperate increase. can any one volunteer to guide me. thanx in anticipation of your kind response.

Shouldn't the rate of carbon increase if there is deforestation since forests are a carbon sink?

this is what i think
1. perform a land cover change over a period of time
2. get the vegetation index or NDVI
3. use the IPCC guideline on the vegetation index to carbon conversion table
4. perform a temperature trend analysis for the same period
5. then finally correlate the temperature and the carbon calculated using the IPCC guidelines
