Hi everyone, to growth and prolongs viability of cells in culture, how much non-essential amino acids solution (concentrate X100) must be in cell culture medium?
Non-essential amino acids (NEAA) are often an important component of many different types of cell culture media. Although cells have the ability to synthesize these amino acids via metabolic pathways such as the glucoaminolysis, glycolysis, or theTCA cycle, the demand for these molecules sometimes becomes so great that efficient synthesis is difficult.
In addition, the manufacturing of these amino acids results in the production of various by-products that can interfere with growth capabilities. By adding NEAA to the media the need for synthesis is significantly reduced along with any subsequent by-products.
Adding supplemental non-essential amino acids to culture media stimulates both growth and prolongs the viability of the cells in culture. You may need to add NEAA to the culture medium depending upon the type of cells you are culturing and its energy needs. Usually, non-essential amino acid solution is provided as 100X concentration. You should add 1 mL NEAA solution into 99mL cell growth medium for culturing your cells.
Nutritional requirements vary largely according to the type of cells among many other factors (species, differentiation status, no. of passages ....... etc).
