I have used hexane to extract fat from honeybee drone larvae homogenate and then removed hexane using a rotary evaporator in water bath of 400C temperature under vacuum. My question is: Does vacuum evaporation leaves hexane residue in the fat after extraction process even with high quality evaporators with high vacuum rate and if that is so, Does this residue makes the extracted fat inedible? In my country maximum allowed hexane residue for edible oils and fats are 1mg/kg.
