Actually i am working on erythrocytes based drug delivery system; i want to do some in vivo studies in rats? but facing this problem? if i inject RBC nano carrier to some other rats; agglutinations or blood cross matching reactions may occurs? please help and give me some hints.
Where is the target of your drug in our body? Do RBC nanocarriers relevant for the pharmacological activity of your drug? What is the fate of RBC nanocarriers after delivery the drugs to their site of action? I guess they will interact with Abs, and will be targeted for opsonization or phagocytosis or for other wings of the innate immune system. I will not worry about agglutination once the RBC nanocarriers deliver drugs to their site of action.
Yes you are right; fate will be the same as that for the normal RBC (spleen and grave yard). My RBCm nanocarrier is also very target specific; i am targeting mostly the infection sites. This can evade the immune system but the problem is that of its interaction with RBC ABO and blood cross matching system of the experimental rats. This is the main problem hurdles in my in vivo studies. Need more sugesstions
