I need research to work the theme of disaster risk in the context of psychology, especially those working the issue of civil defense in psychology work. I am in search of these subjects in research that is not Brazilian.
I can recommend you some research on the field of risk perception that our research team (Ricardo Garcia MIra and myself) have made in Spain, regarding risk perception in the Spanish and European context. Especially, we have a number of studies on spill oil (Prestige) disaster, as well as We have made an studfy on the risk perception on a chemical insdustry in urban areas. Mi colleague Adina Dumitru has also conducted a research on risk perception on nuclear facilties in Spain.
Also the portuguese professor Palma did some research on risk perception and social intervention.
I can recommend you some articles and links if you are interested in this area od study.
I found these readings quite useful. Hope they can also help you.
Best regards, isabel

Disaster Risk Reduction - Not a research piece but great website out of the UN on Disaster Risk Reduction & Resilience: http://www.unisdr.org/we/inform/publications/46052 - would encourage you to look around this website for other related pieces that might better fit your specific question.....
There is some classic judgement and decision making work on risk perception including disaster risk as it pertains to unpacking effects and subadditivity (e.g. risk of any disaster at all being perceived as less than the sum of the risks of different types of disasters), and framing effects. Some good places to start would be:
Tversky, A., & Koehler, D. J. (1994). Support theory: A nonextensional representation of subjective probability. Psychological Review, 101, 547–567.
and
Johnson, E. J., Hershey, J., Meszaros, J., & Kunreuther, H. (1993). Framing, probability distortions, and insurance decisions (pp. 35-51). Springer Netherlands.
There are also more recent studies and citations but I'm only familar with the classics.
