One term approximation for the unsteady one-dimensional heat conduction has been presented by Heisler in several charts. One of these charts presents the midplane temperature of an infinite plate of thickness 2L as a function of time (presented in the attachment). As can be seen in the figure, the slope of the curves changes in some specific Fourier Numbers. Why this happens and what is the physical interpretation of these slope changes?
