After the recent publication of my latest book on tetrapod Ichnology, issued by Springer/Nature, on June 3, 2024, and various other publications in the current year, I am preparing, for a general book on vertebrate fossils (bones and footprints), a chapter that could be titled "Fossils and their popular interpretations of religious character". Please provide me with information on cases and places, in your country or elsewhere, where footprints and/or bones of vertebrates have been interpreted in a religious sense, as bones or footprints or trackways of saints, of the devil, of the Virgin Mary, as well as Buddha, or in the area of other religious faiths, provided that they are interpretations (ancient or recent) of a religious character.
There is also another chapter, which is dealt with by another author, that speaks of fossils and mythology (classical, Scandinavian, German, Chinese mythology etc.) such as the cases of the Cyclopes, and all the fantastical bestiary ancient and medieval. For my chapter, I need more the aspect of religious sense, etc. Publications or bibliographic references would be useful.
The information will then be exposed following ethical principles, with respect for science and faith; I am a Vertebrate paleontologist (see my page in RG) and I am also a believer, and graduated also with academic degrees in Biblical field.
Thanks in advance for any information. Of course in the chapter I will quote thanking.
