That's challenging. Hands up was a common school punishment in Korea when I was a kid. That is no more. But having something to balance on top of your head...that seems to be a punishment for a school of acrobats.
I have not faced the same trauma. But I have seen many others undergoing the same. In our schools, there was a time, and perhaps still it is, that children are made to stand on benches, carry bricks on their backs, slap one another etc. etc.

A great Teacher has pedagogical skills to know the problem of Student and then motivate him....you can design diagnostic evaluation method and questioner of for him to know his problem then you design solution for it but not punishment...
