For COVID_19,the immunity threshold is estimated between 60 and 90 percent.That the proportion of people who need to have immunity either from vaccination or from prior infection.Anumber of signs now point to a future in which the transmission of the virus cannot be contained thorough herd immunity,COVID_19 will likely continue to circulate,to evolve and to reinfect.In this case ,the gaol of vaccination need to be different.

You raised a crucial issue. It can be stated that this case depends on many factors: how quickly new innovative vaccines can be developed, how quickly new more deadly COVID-19 mutations would emerge, how quickly these new mutations spread out, and what other measures can be taken by governments to fight back (other treatments, medicines, social distancing, new innovative masks, etc.). Personally I rather would not predict anything at the moment, my strategy is - hope for the best, prepare for the worst case scenario:
