I would like to compare colour change of cream samples using images captured using DSLR camera. Images will be opened using software such as photoshop to determine the difference in colour intensity between the samples with white balance adjusted and all the settings to the same parameters. Has anyone do this before?
DSLR cameras can store data in RAW or JPG image formats (sometimes there are more options). Photoshop can easily manipulate intensity and/or color settings for images, and the fact that a DSLR camera acquired the file should not be of importance except for color depth and image dimensions.
Thank your for your comment. So technically it is possible but the data may not be persuasive because it is easily manipulated. Am i right to say that?
Image data can be easily manipulated (edited) but if you are worried about experimental validation, just publish the specific settings you changed and the ones you left unchanged. That will add robustness to your inferences and hypothesis.
Looking further into your original question, you indicated that White balance will be modified while leaving the other settings on fixed parameters. Seems to be a good experimental setup for comparisons, since you can subtract intensity of pixels in order to detect changes for your study.
