Has anyone tried extracting RNA from dead tissue or cells? Would one expect to get no RNA at all as it's definitely degraded or should you expect to get RNA by nanodrop but just the quality would be terrible? I tried extracting RNA from dead skin from patients and am getting no detectable RNA by nanodrop. I don't think it's a technical issue as I've tried multiple kits and still get 0 or negative RNA values. What is confounding is that I was expecting to get some RNA but expected the quality to be bad as opposed to getting nothing.
