In France exists some articles about cavity selection by bats, but I don't known any works about the relationship between bat presence and insects.
See Laurent TILLON : http://www.cen-auvergne.fr/IMG/pdf/pdf_Tillon-les-chiropteres-en-foret-2008.pdf ; laurent.tillon [@] onf.fr
In caves, the presence of beetles is several times linked to the presence of guano (but not every times) and the micro-prey it attracts (diptera larvae, acari...). I guess the more organic matter in the tree cavity (amount and diversity of sources), the more diverse the beetles.
Thanks Benoit and Colin for your interest and help! The compost mixture with wood mould and bat-guano must be unresistable for some beetles and other insects! Waiting to hear what the bats guys in UK have made. Keep intouch of this matter and it would be an interesting topic to study in future!
