Hello. My student and I recently had an experience with the journal Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry where we submitted a manuscript, received "minor edits" suggestions from reviewers (twice, one also upon resubmit), then suddenly, upon the second resubmit the manuscript was rejected without sufficient comment. Also, this whole experience took 6 months. Did anyone else have a similar situation happen to them?
I agree with Prof. Yuan-Yeu. You must write to the Chief Editor to find out why. Did you make the corrections as suggested by the reviewers? If yes, its ethical to find out the reasons for the rejection. After getting a thorough understanding, you can decide whether to submit to another journal or make other needed adjustments while resubmitting the paper to the same journal. Best regards

It is dificult to find reviewers in general -there is an increasing number of Journals and manuscripts - and it does not depend on the Journal.

Have you send an email to the Chief-in-Editor and ask the reasons? CIE is usually the person who makes the final decision-accept or reject.

I also agree that it is your right to know the reason, particularly after that much time you spent in waiting, and have responded to all the queries (I presume) well in time. After all sending it to a new journal meas, back to square one, restarting all the formatting and style. This has happened to me once with another journal which rejected the paper after several resubmissions, and then it turn out to be that I missed to include citations from the same journal and of the members from the editorial board having expertise in the same area. As these days many journals and reviewers try to enhance their citation index, so be careful not to miss the so called 'grus' in the area of your submission.
You need to request for the reasons for the rejection, especially when you had done the revisions recommended by the reviewers before re-submitting.

I agree with Dr. Lebbaeus Asamani and with Dr. Andrei Blasko. Please, submit to another journal. I think your paper may be good defying many authorities.
My previous paper has been ignored for about one year without any reply from "Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine". In this case, proposal of withdrawal has been very difficult by using e-mail, and only FAX has been the effective method. Please see my difficult article, which has finally been published (file; JMBT alopecia), but this important article has not yet been included in PubMed of NIH.

By the way, changing of editor in chief (EIC) by publishing company may occur.
I have submitted an article to the European Journal of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry, and it has been rejected. Top author of Dr. Elena A. Terentyeva sadly has returned to Moscow, Russia. When I am considering another Journal to submit, suddenly air-mail request to re-submit has been arived. Next EIC is wise, who has recommended to use non-parametric statistics (Mann-Whiteny's U test) (please see file; Dr. Terentyeva Urine BIN).
Thereafter, I have always used the non-parametric statistics (Mann-Whiteny's U test).
