just commenting briefly:

You are saying (and I hope you meant this): poor = faint staining of your (Leishmania and [routine] rapid cytology stains.....

(out of the package, prior to specimen loading and staining) .

There might be several causes but if you think of poor slide quality because of a kind of smear-like dirt on the unused glass slides, it might be recommendable to reclaim that issue at your dealer/delivering vendor who should reclaim as well at the original producer of the slides (naturally one should provide some "dirty slides" to the dealer/vendor and perhaps also should have /indicate a batch number of the production). Might be an issue of warranty because of a production failure(cleaning of slides)...

(unfortunately this will not help for the circumstance of previously poor stainings, I know..) If then one knows about the nature of the smearing film.....one could argue about poor staining...

Thank you indeed for your kind comment and what I actually did , was I returned all that batch of the slides to the dealer and exchanged it with another batch which is now giving excellent results. I raised this issue because we wasted a lot of time and material untill we discovered that the problem was due the slides and I thought it a good idea to share this problem with colleagues. apologize if my reply was not quite revealing. I once had a similar problem for my semithin sections and the problem was that semary "dirt-particles" disturbed the viewing as well as imaging/documenting of stained sections. So I decided to do the same... returning ... and got another batch of slides which was ok. Nevertheless I always clean (HCl-& alcohol,washings in distilled water) slides to be used (even if they are taken from an originally packed box). This helps(ed) always not only for correct sticking of the resin sections but also in achieving good staining results.
