There are interesting issues raised by Paetzold et al (2010) in their paper "A framework for assessing ecological quality based on ecosystem services". I have been thinking about how such ideas can be applied to a landscape which is currently experiencing human influence in the form of a dam construction. Already there have been some greenway considering work through the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA), but it only focused on ecosystem services in assessing the conditions and trends of ecosystems at the global and national scale.
