Potassium permanganate must be standardized by titration with oxalic acid at about 60°C to ensure accurate acrylamide quantification. The acrylamide oxidation by KMnO₄ is rapid, typically completed within minutes at room or slightly elevated temperature.
Thank you very much for your response. I am planning to perform a standard curve of permanganate with known concentrations of acrylamide. Do I need an acidic solution as IA says for the reaction to occur? Can I use one permanganate concentration to quantify from 2 to 200 ppm acrylamide in my samples? Thank you very much indeed for your invaluable help. I am running out of time and want to complete the objectives of my TFG.
