I'm concerned if the female hormones like estrogen influence the inflammation's markers and hematogenesis,Can we do our project by female rats and trust the results? Are there any differences in gross and histopathological alternesses in inflammation between two genders?
You have to be careful since male and female mice/rats respond differently to complex biological processes such as inflammation at the cellular level. It has been shown that inflammatory response in female mice/rats differs from male mice/rats in type and number of white blood cells recruited to the site of inflammation. If you are gonna to include female rats, would be nice to include one group of males as well; then you will even answer this question properly.
Thank you Dr. Akbari for your valuable information. But what if we work on the sham group on the same gender? Doesn't it prepare the same inflammatory conditions to illustrate the comparable results?
Of course you have to include the sham group of the same gender. I proposed to include a male rats as well to answer this question whether male and female rats respond differently to inflammation.
I really enjoyed from the discussion and I believe there would be marked differences between them as sex hormones including steroids do have inevitable effects in particular on vascular system which plays a crucial role in the inflammation processes.
