In recent years cases A Rh F has not been a regular feature in pediatrics wards. Is it a pan India trend or a Delhi specific phenomenon?
In India we are not seeing much. Even no of patients visiting hospital on Saturdays for Penidure injections is also very less. So, It's a good sign.
We do see cases of rheumatic fever but the incidence has reduced due to better treatment of sore throat and improved socio economic conditions of our people
In my residency i had seen near to 20 patients, that means around 7 per year.
I Have seen about 20 cases of rheumatic fever since last 3 years. In last 6 months i have seen 4 new cases of rheumatic fever.
In the last 5 years (2010 - 2014) we have sen 7 new cases. However 5 in 2014 (carditis 2; chorea 1; 2 migratory arthritis)
As i work in dense populated low socioeconomic area of india, i have seen numerous cases of rheumatic fever in last 3 years with various presentation . On average in our hospital we see a new rheumatic fever case one in a week.
