I have always been intrigued by the notions and practices related to how large and small organisations may adopt management practices that seem to make them look more eco-friendly, climate sensitive and sustainable in the longer term. One of such notions and practices includes the idea for businesses and organisations to 'go green' in terms of the practices used, the initiatives taken and the strategies designed and implemented. Such an idea is increasingly becoming fashionable in the HRM discipline and has been fondly daubed by researchers and practitioners as 'Green HRM'. I wonder whether Green HRM serves as a discipline in its own right or it might turn out to be fad or perhaps it is part of a more lasting discussion, debate and research into the Future of Work?
